I had my two kitties neutered the other day and have brought them home today with antibiotics. My problem? It's in a bottle which says Amoxicillin SYRUP, but its powder inside. I looked Amoxicillin powder on the internet and it says: approve for use in dogs and cats after reconstitution. Surely the vet should had reconstituted it before giving it to me? I haven't a clue what measures ratio to use. Anyone have any ideas? (I tried putting it in their food but they're having none of it) Blimey, tablets or syrup would have been far more practical!!!

If I remember well, you need to add water to the bottle and mix well.

Read the instructions inside that should explain it better

You need to add water and shake it up. Strange they gave it to you like that. My Vet gives one bottle mixed and I mix the others. I know how to mix Clavamox because I did it so many times. It should say on the box where to fill it too. Do not sprinkle it on thier food. It is the wrong amount and will be strong.

I would have expected that...who knows, maybe an oversight.

DON'T try to use the powder...I would go back to the Vet and have them add the appropriate quantity of water. If you can't, could you call them and ask how much water to add? I hope you received a dropper/needleless syringe to administer the drops.

Oh no! Arthur's already eaten his, I hope I haven't given him an overdose, Bonnie wouldn't eat hers.

The writing on the label is in Indonesian so I can't read it...

Call the Vet and tell them you made a mistake and put it in their food because they didnt tell you that it has to be mixed. I know how to mix antibiotics because I have done it so mnay times. You will need a new bottle now because it will not be right when you add water.

Don't worry too much about that. You might see some dairrhea...depending how much powder you have removed from the bottle, if you use the recommended amount of water now, the solution will obviously be more dilute (weaker) than it would normally be. I would just cut back a little on the eventual amount of water you use.

Thanks for the advice, if only the vet had been as informative. Whenever we've received antibiotics for the animals before its been ready to use. Also the vet knows we speak very little Indonesian! Exasperated!!
