KatKwery: The first person to use one of the secret words was glitch, who used gifts. The other secret words were best and rule(s).

Persi saw a Souper Salad the other day and although he is not interested in soup, there is a one paragraph direction here on The Cat Site that explains how to provide him with the other. Paste that paragraph here: ___________________________________________________________________

It is quite simple to provide your cat(s) with their own salad bar, as cat grass is very easy to grow. Place a 2-inch thick layer of potting soil in the bottom of a pot or planter and add enough water to moisten the soil. Completely cover the soil with a thin layer of seeds. Lightly cover the seeds with a handful of soil and then loosely cover the pot or planter with plastic wrap - this creates a greenhouse effect. After three to four days, the seeds will sprout and you can now remove the plastic wrap. As the grass grows, water as needed, to keep the soil moist (not soggy) and mist daily with a spray bottle. Trim as desired. Once the grass is about 2 inches high, place it where your cat can "graze".

This paragraph is located under the Cat Care button above, then the article Cat Grass and is the fifth paragraph down.
You have collected 2,000 points for knowing where to look (we have been in this area before).

KatKwery: Three more chances to win 700 points just by using one of the three secret words that directly relate to the KatKwiz question.

Do you have indoor, outdoor, or both cats? Which ones eat grass? Do you grow grass for your inside cat(s)? Did you know how before today's KatKwiz?
Were you aware of a cat's need for grass? What are you going to do about it? Did you know you can buy ready to serve salad bars at places like Petco and Petsmart? Wouldn't you rather grow your own?

Popsie is just indoor, he does try to escape though. I bought and grew some cat grass for him a month ago but he never ate any of it. I kept it watered but it died anyway so I tossed it. The kind I got was called Vitagrass and it came with the container, soil, and seeds. The seeds germinated in like two days and grass started sprouting the same day I moved it to a sunny location. I couldn't believe how fast it grew.

My girls are indoor kitties. I didn't know that the needed to eat grass. Every cat I have ever had that ate grass would throw it up! I might try and grow some though. I am sure the girls will like it but I don't want them getting sick from it.

I always thought that cats ate grass to make themselves throw up when they had a tummy ache.

I have indoor only kittys although BooBoo is allowed out once in a while to get his fill of grass He doesn't vomit from it either! I knew cat grass was important and that it helps in their digestive track, and Ive grew it several times! Its not the throwing up thats bad either, its their constantly spilling the cat grass and making a mess! They get dirt from one end of the house to the other! All my kitties eat grass, its just that when they are outdoors they have to be supervised because people steal cute kitties (and do other things that are too upsetting to type with my Eek looking on!) I didn't know you could get ready to eat salad bars! Thats crazy! I might rather grow my own but at my house it only last a couple hours because of the cats need to get into it right away, eat it, spill it and leave it for me to clean up! I would much rather clean up puke than dirt! (I know, Im weird!
) My cats will also indulge themselves in salad that I eat! They like lettuce tomatos, green beans, peas, olives and definaltly ranch dressing!
I do believe I will give it another try being that its spring and just get an enclosure for it like a bubble or something and that way they can't spill it but can still eat it when they're supervised! yeah, that'll work! Right???

i don't grow grass for my inside cats... i have in the past, but i noticed that grass-eating cats upchuck more often! i don't like cleaning it up... when i did it before, i bought a little kit for growing it - not the already grown kind. i saw some of that the other day at Petco, & it looked kinda dead!

Do you have indoor, outdoor, or both cats?
Indoor. Before I moved they were both, I had a cat door and a dog door for them and had 40 acres away from strangers/traffic/dogs so they could come and go as they pleased. Now that Ive moved across the country to a town they get to go on the screened porch and outside on a leash. I love having them in all the time though, I dont have to worry!

Which ones eat grass?
All of them! They also eat spider plants, and Nermal was nibbling my rosemary the other day.

Do you grow grass for your inside cat(s)?
I did until they started using it as a litter box. I planted it in a big tray so they could lay on it, once I figure out a better planter Ill plant some more.

Did you know how before today's KatKwiz?
Yup, instructions were on the back of the cat grass seed packet.

Were you aware of a cat's need for grass? What are you going to do about it?
I always try to give all my critters a little bit of fresh stuff, I have a Great Dane that will do anything for fresh plums.

Did you know you can buy ready to serve salad bars at places like Petco and Petsmart? Wouldn't you rather grow your own?
Yeah Ive seen them at petstores, have you seen the prices?! I'd much rather grow my own!

I have 4 cats that are strictly indoor. 1 that is mostly indoor, that sneaks out sometimes. And 4 barn cats.

I notice that 2 of my barn cats eat grass regularly. And the one "sneaky" kitty eats grass when she goes out...she then comes in and vomits it up.

I have seeds and just need to get them planted so my house cats can graze. Although if they are going to vomit they aren't going to get it very often! My dad has quite the green thumb so I did know how to plant the seeds before today. I think it would be much more fun to grow it myself than to buy it.

I think the vomit thing is really an issue for everyone, no one wants to clean up green puke! I guess I got lucky to not have cats that throw it up! I wonder why mine dont throw it up??
I think its normal for them to do it so I wonder if there isn't something wrong with mine! (My cat grass that is!)

Beacon and Sox are indoor cats, although they do enjoy the window sill overlooking the bog that borders my apartment complex, I suppose its the variety of frogs and birds that they see and hear, well except for the pesky Canadian geese. They got one of the little catgrass kits for Christmas and loved it! The only problem was keeping the grow light on them enough and keeping the cats out of it enough to let the grass grow. Was a little difficult growing it indoors with the cats (fairly young kittens at the time). I decided to look into our seed selection at the home improvement center I work at when we got them in for the season and found catgrass and catnip next to each other, so I picked up a packet of both. I went back Friday to look for another packet of catgrass and all I found was the catnip. So instead of planting three pots for the cats, I am only doing two. Took a couple of minutes yesterday to plant them, so I should see the germinated seeds sprouting in a few days.
