Runny eyes

I'm sure there is a thread on this somewhere, I just cant find it right now...

I have a 4 week old kitten (approx) whose mom was killed or died. Kitty is doing well, but has 'runny eyes'. I have to clean them every morning..... her little eyes get all crusty-like.

What causes this? We have other cats and are on a limited income and cant afford a vet.. unless absolutely necessary.

Kitty is isolated in my bedroom and away from all other cats. S/he has contact with my children and husband and is cared for, bottle fed and very happy.... but her/his eyes worry me. Do I just keep cleaning them? Or is there more we should worry about?

At that age I would spring for the vet. She could have an eye infection or something that requires medication. Ask your vet if you can make payments and spring for it before it gets worse.

My thoughts exactly. I was just hoping this was a normal thing that regular cleaning would take care of..... thanks for the advice.
