I walked into the kitchen just now to find Sass lying down in front of the food bowl and eating. She's already chubby, so I was like, "Sass! You lazy fatty!" She just looked at me like, what?

So I moved her food bowl away from her, but instead of getting up and walking to it, she stretched out her paw and dragged it back over to her and scooped some food out. I moved it again, she pulled it back... did it a few times. The last time I moved it away she didn't do anything. So I was just like *sigh* ... and came over to the computer.

Does anyone else have a cat that will eat lying down?

No. My cats scarf down their food rather quickly. I don't free feed so they know eat now because it comes up in a half an hour to 45 minutes.

I keep the cat food on top of the dryer so our dog doesn't eat it. When the dryer is running and it's nice and warm, I've seen Sam laying down while eating and have found him asleep with his head in the bowl.

Chynna does sometimes. But she's 16 years old.

She's also come to expect me to bring her food to her wherever she is.
But that's my fault. After her surgery in April I've been obsessed with getting her to eat so she can gain back some of the weight she lost. And I find she eats better if I stick a plate of food under her nose while she's sleeping. The instant she smells it she wakes up and starts eating it, even though she turned her nose up at it a while earlier when it was offered to her as "dinner"

Abby usually sits in the "meatloaf" position while eating....which is sort of laying down. But she's not all stretched out. Though I have seen her lounging by her dish around meal time and instead of getting up to eat, she just eats in the position she was in.

At least she got some exercise with you moving the bowl away and her having to stretch to get it back
That is so funny.

Larry does this. It makes me laugh. He'll just lie by the dish, on his side, stick his paw in, grab a piece of dry food, drag it out and eat it.

Cracks me up.
