Long term probiotics?

hi all,

My kitty is recovering from a UTI and had a bit of diarrhea due to antibiotics so my vet suggested I give him some acidophilus to balance the bacteria in his gut. I was just wondering does anyone give this long term? I'm not really familiar with it but since people can take it long term, I was wondering about cats.

yes you can give it long term... read labels , some have added sugars and flavors
