Jen is very excited! She will be teaching history at:

http://www.corningareaschools.com/ea...s/History.html

She says that Newsweek puts them at 1039/1300 of the best US high schools! Remember, this is upstate NY and not a major urban area, although there is that big employer Corning Glass Works and Cornell and Ithaca College.

Now, if only they would hire her after she graduates next year because she is sure as heck not going to get a teaching job here in CA.

Anyway, we are so proud of our little girl. She obviously doesn't visit this site because she would remind me that she is taller than me.

That is wonderful news!
I just completed my first year of teaching (history for me as well). It is quite an experience!
All the best to your daughter!

Thank you so much!
Now I am saddled with the tast of finding a permanent teaching job, which isn't going to be so easy it appears. I may have to do something else for a bit until a history teaching position opens up. No worries, though. Everything will work itself out!

Congrats! I hope it goes well for her

I'm on my way to my student teaching assignment as well...I *think* I'll have to student-teach middle school and high school band, or something like that. I'm just a sophomore though, so I have a few more years.
