Hey

I have 3 cats. 2 of them love looking great. 1 hates to look great.

He grooms himself the wrong ways.... yeah, strange... he makes himself look like he dose not get looked after... We groom him everyday making him look nice again, but he licks himself against the hair line... i mean, why?

After he dose this, he wonders of for like an hour.

dose he make himself look this bad so some old lady will give him food?

Dose he just like to look a mess?

My other 2 cats pin him down, and groom him... it gets that bad....

Oh, one other problem, he loses hair constantly... is it just him shedding the fur for the summer? he is black which a white chest...

sorry for that laughter, but I'm picturing a cat that grooms the wrong way.

I know with my rexes I would NEVER let them in with other cats when drying cause the others would groom the wrong way and I'd have to re-wet him down to smooth the fur in the right way. He dried himself fine - just didn't need helpers

You have a very strange cat. I never heard of this before. Only thing I can think of is this cat must have been an only kitten or lost his mother early cause no one taught him HOW to groom properly. And I really have no solution to the problem other then keep combing him.

I think this might explain it. You say that the other cats hold him down and groom him. I'd say--let them.

The fact that you say he loses hair constantly is a little concerning. Is he over-grooming and removing his hair or damaging his skin? I'm probably exaggerating the meaning in your words, and he's probably fine. This is the shedding season in come places.

It sounds cute; just let him have hair going straight up if that's what he wants!

I don't have the answer for you, but I understand your frustration. My Griffin has grown in a very full gorgeous ruff of fur. Every time I comb it out, he immediately has to re-groom it himself and gets his hair all stuck in his mouth and ends up looking like noone's combed him out in weeks! Hopefully your neighbors don't fall for your kitty's sob story act.
