I am considering giving cosamin to strengthen the bladder lining, and supposedly eliminate the production of debris, thus improving urinary health.
However, I would not do that unless I knew the PH because cats need to be slightly acidic (it dissolves struvite) but not too acidic (produces oxalate).
So I smashed a cosamin pill in water and tested with a strip, and the strip did not change, which means it is rather acidic 6.0, or it doesn't have a PH? If it is acidic then I would not give it along with the carpon because then things may be too acidic.
those of you in the UK that use this, I know you have had good results, but do you know why? Is it the bladder health aspect, or the acidity of it?
I am not much of a chemist, so this stuff is beyond me. thanks.
