Absolutely!! I respect and endorse that right. And I don't belittle your faith or dishonor it. I'm sure your faith is as strong in what you believe as others, and it's as real to you as to others. "Christian" is just a label. A rose by any other name is still arose, and a daisy that calls itself a rose is still a daisy.
I think the point that I and others were trying to make, maybe not too diplomatically or respectfully enough, was that the beliefs and doctrines of the Mormon church are considerably at odds with the beliefs and doctrines of the "mainstream" Christian denominations. As listed in a link someone posted in a previous post. If Mormons wish to label themselves as Christians, they certainly have the right to do that; after all as you point out, His name is in the name of your church, and He is a part of your beliefs and doctrines.
However, my own opinion, and I emphasize this is strictly opinion, is that when the Mormon church counts itself in among the mainstream Christian denominations it is being intentionally disingenuous, most likely in order to mask their differences. I don't know why they'd want to do that. I'd think they'd want to emphasize their differences, the better in order to stand out and proclaim and defend their beliefs. Perhaps you have some thoughts on that? If the mods don't think it's too out of line.
In defense of the topic, it may have bearing on where the FDLS is coming from in separating themselves from the LDS.
