I won a gift card from Macy's last week at work. They gave them out on tuesday and I put it in my box. I got home tonight and realized I don't remember seeing the envelope in my box today and even yesterday! Someone stole my card!!! I am soooo angry! I've had this happen before on another occassion and I can't stand people that steal.

I hope that karma comes around and they get what they deserve. It has to be housekeeping because we have had problems with them stealing before and no one else comes in at night. It is not any of my coworkers because I have never had an issue with any of them. I'm going to file a complaint against them if I can.

I highly doubt it. It's usually people who are greedy and don't care. I have NO sympathy for people who steal because they think of themselves first instead of thinking of others.

Would you like it if someone did it to you? If they are that desperate they do not need to go to Macy's. It's called common courtesy and this world is lacking it.

I think people steal because they believe they can get some thing for nothing thus the term "five finger discount" when referring to shop lifting.

I am sorry your gift card got stolen, and I do not blame you for wanting to file a complaint.

I would also take action to the next level and avoid leaving things of value where they can be taken especially small things people can quickly and easily stick into their pocket and claim as theirs. It is sad to have to keep things under lock and key but it is even sadder to have them walk off.

I can't remember having anything stolen from me (besides like, gum from my desk when I was gone for a day in grade school
), but I agree with you completely. I hate when people steal.

Seems like there's probably a serial number on those cards... maybe the hospital can have Macy's ID who uses it...?

I had a problem one place I worked (TV/Radio station) with someone stealing my packed lunch from the fridge every morning. I would get to work around 4am and by nine needed to eat and ... poof... no lunch. My name on it, everything. I even put up a sign begging that person to STOP TAKING MY LUNCH and be responsible - bring something of your own. My boss refused to take it seriously. I said, it's not the tuna fish sandwish and apple that's the problem, it's the principle of the thing. Stealing is stealing. So I finally convinced him to get a small cube fridge for our office and nothing was taken from there. Not only that ... he and my immediate coworkers began using that fridge all the time.. .so it was money well spent.

I also had a rain jacket stolen from a place of employ last fall. A nice jacket - Columbia. It was on the hook on Friday and gone on MOnday. NO one would do anything about it.

Well of course I would not like it if someone stole something from me. And I'd be angry, but I would not get that upset about it. After all its only something material and when we leave this earth, we won't be taking any of this with us

I had my car stolen once and was so glad when they found the fool riding around town in it. He got prosecuted and went to jail.
People stealing medicine????

Once I had a job where I worked with top executives of the corporation and I would arrange lunch meetings. The leftovers we donated to feed people in need. It had been an idea that I had come with and was proud of the program. The food was expensive and I saw no reason to throw it away when it could be of use and there was SO much left. Anyway someone started stealing the food! I was so angry. Not one person who had access to that food needed it. I always collected it at the end of the day but suddenly there was nothing left to give. When I found out who was doing it I doing it I confronted her. She was a highly paid person so it made no sense. She denied it but no more food was ever stolen.

GK, it's not just the material goods -- it's the sense of betrayal by a fellow human, especially by someone who knows you.

people have stolen from me, too. it is ridiculous.

my bf has had his stereo system in his car stolen 5 times, all by people he knew and considered his "friends". we have a friend that weve both known for years, my bf has known him longer tho. once my bf was hanging out wit him while i was at work & he went to the gas station next door to my house to buy snacks, & my bf gave him money to get him stuff. he never came back to my house. my bf got his money back &we started chilling with him again bc he apologized & we trusted that he wouldnt do it to us again. my bfs mom suspected that he stole 2 bottles of pain killers out of our medicine cabinet. so when he went to use the bathroom again, my bfs aunt went in and counted her medicine, & she was missing 6 days worth of blood pressure medicine. something that would have killed this kid, or anyone he might want to sell them too. his teeth are rotting out of his face, & he has a pill problem. we went there and confronted him about stealing the pills & he gave them back. but its still the fact that he stole, so he is never coming over our house again.

Its sad when its a stranger the steals from you, but will agree its worse when you know them!

One reason why I've never met one of my husband's brothers - major sticky fingers. He won't allow him in the house and he said if we ever met him in person, be sure to keep tight hold on my wallet! This brother even stole several things and pawned them from his own mother.

In the 6 yrs we've been married, I've only seen a few old pictures of this brother.

I have had that happen to me before at work, twice I have had money stolen right from my wallet
Its just a shame because the one time there was only 4 of us working and well we all know who it was but its more he said she said kind of stuff, so we all just hold onto our things there

Good luck.
I recently had a sweater stolen at a Marriot Hotel. I reported it and haven't received any satisfaction.

You may be able to report it stolen to Macys if your company has record of the number on the gift card that was given to you. I'm sorry that happened to you.
