I need your input........

San Diego offers a program for ridesharing commuters guaranteeing them a ride home via taxi or rideshare service that takes them to their car or home in case of family emergency, illness, or employer-required overtime (which means the commuter would miss their scheduled ride). It costs only a $3.00 co-pay for the service.

Would you be more likely to use ridesharing if you had this option in your area??

I'm trying to get some ideas for presenting this idea with our local bus network - personally, I think that it is a great idea and would definitely increase the odds that parents would participate in carpooling.

Any other ideas that you can come up with that might help me when I write to our local bus service?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I think that's a great idea. I don't have a car, and never have, and I think the public transportation in a lot of places is pretty despicable.

I would be pretty likely to use that service. OSU just recently started having Zipcar, and a lot of people quit driving to work. It's expensive and most people would rather not if there were a real alternative. Unfortunately the bus system here is dismal, so people are forced to drive.

Anything that will help people know they have a way to get home is great, because that's usually the reason cited for everyone driving alone. They don't like knowing they're dependent on others and that if they need to leave they can't.
