HI!

I haven't been posting a lot lately due to being busy packing, wrapping things up at work, etc. Today was my LAST day at work but it hasn't really hit me yet. I don't think it'll hit me until I start my new job on June 2nd.

I am really stressed out right now trying to finish packing before Fri when the movers come, get my cats used to wearing collars and leashes, and making sure everything's ready at my new home in Utah.

I just need vibes that my cats won't FREAK out too much and that the trip will go smoothly, that the movers transfers my belongings in a timely and safe manner with nothing lost or damaged.

This is a HUGE life change for me. I am excited but at the same time, sad, scared and nervous. I'll be leaving my job which I LOVED for the last 10 years, great co workers, great friends and a great environment so that's making it harder.

I'm excited though cuz the new job sounds EXCITING and CHALLENGING!! My new boss already told me that he has a huge pile of work waiting for me and that I'll "hit the ground running" with no time for taking it easy. That's good and bad- good cuz I like staying BUSY but not good cuz I was hoping the first week will be a bit easy so I'd have time to adjust to living in Utah, get my new home organized, etc.

My plan is to leave Sat (after giving my sis a quick tour of DC since she has never been here), stop in Toledo, OH Sat night at a hotel (this will be the first time for me travelling that far with cats and staying in a hotel with cats so I hope it goes smoothly!), then stop in Lincoln, Neb Sun night then get to Utah by Monday night so that'll give me 6 days to get my cats settled in, etc. The movers told me they'll get my stuff there between May 29-June 9th. I'm HOPING it's BEFORE June 2nd so I can get some stuff unpacked before I start working!

Good luck vibes needed ASAP for me and my furbabies!!!

Good luck on your new job, and I hope your move goes smoothly. A word of advice, that I did not even consider the first time I moved with my cats, and it almost cost me my dear Fred. Before you you let the cats out of the carriers, make sure you have everything you need for the night, snacks, drinks, food, etc. I went to get drinks, Fred shot out the door, and I ended up crawling around under semis and cars until 4 a.m. trying to find him. Finally I found him, terrified, sitting on a truck tire, and was able to catch him. It did not even occur to me that he would run out of a strange place. I thought he would stay with his meowmy and food bowl.

I hate moving, so you have my full sympathy. I know it's scary, and Utah is a very different place from Maryland. I'm glad you found a place to live with your cats.

And I second the advice about being very careful about doors. The cats may bolt out them, thinking their usual house is just on the other side of the door.
