All day it has been interesting with my 3 cats. Sam is 4 years old and he has been fixed for almost 2 years now. lucy is not fixed and just had a litter of 5 kittens 3 weeks ago, and Mittens is 2 and going to be fixed in two days, but he doesn't know yet.everything started when i tried putting sam into the carrier as he had to see the vets for his anual shots and check up. he started growling and didn't want to, which attracted the other two cats and all three started fighting. all three are fine as my husband and i dove in just as quick as it started so no one got hurt, just alot of growling and hissing was done . momma lucy went back to my room to be with her babies and mittens went to the bathroom, and we left them there while we took sam to the vet...without the carrier. when i got home i washed my hands let sam out (as i borrowed a carrier that they were able to put him into)and figured see what mittens and sam do...thinking it has got to be the hormones or pharamones setting the cats off cause i tried to force sam to do something he really didn't want to do. sam was friendly and even tried cleaning mittens , and mittens got all moody and before he attacked sam who was up against the wall, i threw a towel over him and carried him away back to the bathroom. i have let him out by himself a few more times after airing out the house will all windows open and even washed the floors and walls and any furniture i could as well as vaccummed everything i could, and there has been next to no change with mittens. by himself he follows me around in a threatning manor trying to block me off and then he will start growling at me, so i keep putting him into the bathroom. i had also changed my clothes twice and put them in the laundry room and closed the door. thinking maybe it wasn't something he smells in the house but rather on sam so i gave sam a bath in just water, cause we don't have any cat soap. sam is not happy with me now either. lol. i also threw one damp towel in a bedroom where mittens is thinking maybe it will have sam's reg scent on it and maybe mittens will calm down. how do i deal with this type of situation as i never have had to seperate the cats...they have always just taken to one another and this hasn't been the first time to this vet for either cats. this has been the only vet i have taken all cats to. i don't understand why all of a sudden this reaction and for so long of period as i have been home since 10:30 am. and no mittens is still not friendly with sam even after his bath..i let them smell each other with a crack in the door and mittens started growling again and hissing. how do i solve this issue so they can be friends again? all three are indoor only cats. what makes things worse is i have my 2 kids age 5 and 8 ad my developmentally disabled sister comming home from school soon. i just don't want my kids or sister hurt nor my cats and keep hoping there might be a quick fix anwser out there..lol. i do also have to put advantage flea drops on the back of sams and mittens neck and i wondered maybe would that disract them from being moody with each other? has anyone else had a simular problem and what happened? any and all advice is very welcome too..i am willing to try anything to have them be friends again.
