Cookie was just playing with a ball of fur that I balled up after plucking it off my ragdoll when I thought...how easy it is to amuse my kitties. With all the expensive toys I've bought in the past and even the cheap ones, I've found most success with random things never intended for cat play:

-Plastic bottle caps
-Pens and markers
-My pj strings - usually when they're on
-Gift wrap, shipping paper
-Plastic grocery bags
-Shower curtains

The best cat toy that I do have and will continue to purchase is da bird. Definitely not a surprise there since everyone has had much success with it.

The coveted "toy" at my place is an old kitchen towel.

They'll also spend an hour in the bathtub at one time. No toys or anything in there. They just sit, stare at the drain (there's an old plug string hanging down) and scratch.

Kittens are not too difficult to amuse!
