So Rob had been hunting on Craigslist and found a boat listed nearby where I work. We went over to take a look at it today, and ended up driving home with it about 30 minutes later!! We got an awesome deal on it, especially since it came with the trailer (which has 4 new tires, and 4 new wheel hubs) also. I was out there washing the exterior off (except the underpart, that was pretty filthy and made the water nasty while I was trying to clean the rest of it!)
We live on the coast of SC, and there's a few lakes nearby, rivers, some Intracoastal waterways, and of course, the ocean. I saw some people out on boats yesterday when I left work and told him we needed to go take a look at it! It's a 74 Slickcraft with a 350 GM engine (which is converted to a marine Mercruiser 250). Supposedly these boats are very commonly restored and are pretty quick. We looked one up and it was selling for $7200! The neighbor came over and said he's extremely jealous
He's offered to help with whatever we need help with (some woodwork needs to be done in the cubby, but it's not that serious), if he gets to go out on the boat with us from time to time in return. The carburetor needs to be rebuilt, but my dad already offered to do that for us (he's built a few boat engines before
)
Here's some pictures of our newest acquisition (as you can see, Rob and the neighbor are already enjoying some in-boat relaxation!):
