I switched my 10 year old persian from Iams Original to Gold Label for Cats last night, now this morning she has thrown up a few times but only white foam. I've tried to feed her grass to settle her stomach but she isn't interested at all. She isn't acting like herself and is in the 'sick kitty' position. You know the one where they tuck all their legs under them.

Please give me some help or insight.

My first advice will be: Put the Iams Original back in the bowl.

When you decide to "switch" foods, you need to understand that, for a cat, "switch" should read "transition", a slow process during which you gradually add a little new to the old in increasing amounts until a 100% changeover has been made.

This process should probably be done over a period of a few weeks.

GREAT advice! Please definitely do that.

Also, check the labels on both foods and make a list of all the ingredients that are different in the new food. There could be something in there your kitty is allergic to and a list can make it easy for you to zero in on a trouble causing ingredient.

Throwing up white foam means the stomach is irritated (my vet told me that when my Amy was throwing up white foam and it went on for days) and in my experience at least, it's always caused by something a cat is allergic to.

April Joy had a really bad intestinal infection that caused her to throw up white foam. She was very sick and I'm glad I took her to the vet because if I hadn't.....
