What on earth is a "vaganza?" And why do I need "extra" of it?

What can I do to make sure all my employees are "gruntled?"

I once had a lengthy debate with a boss over my use of the word "extraordinary," which he insisted meant really, really ordinary.

Most people forget that "extra" also means "outside of."

I just checked around, and it appears that it's derived from grumble and grunt, both of which are (in at least some meanings) sounds of disapproval and dissatisfaction.

What I can't figure out is the "dis," which would seem to suggest that the state of dissatisfaction expressed by "gruntled" has been alleviated...

Right! How is one gruntled, and then become disgruntled? My spellchecker says gruntled is not a correctly spelled word, but disgruntled is. I don't understand.

My pet peeve is when persons say, "very unique." Unique is defined as one of a kind or without equal. How can you be very one of a kind or very without equal?
