But this is a subject that I just cannot get worked up enough on either way to take a stand. I don't see any truly valid reason not to allow gay marriage, but I cannot for the life of me understand why they would want to.
I'm sure the divorce lawyers would love to see it permitted, it would increase their business by at least a third.
before i say too much more, if any one else (before me) has posted to this thread who is actually gay, i missed it.
i don't speak for ANYONE but myself, i do not have an agenda (hell i do not even have a girl friend LOL) but i am a lesbian.
my apologies if that is TMI for some ppl
i feel like i may have just exposed myself to a lot of um, *stuff* i may not be up to listening to, but i did find it odd to see this discussion go on so long without one single gay person putting their two cents in. Afterall, odds are, 10% of the people on this board are homosexual. (approx 10% of the population is gay)
FWIW-i prefer civil unions to marriage- i think the govt should get out of the marriage business, and should never have been it in the first place, IMHO
i gotta say, reading thru this thread, i have felt encouraged by posts made by open minded people, saddened that there is still so much discrimination "out there" (but encouraged by ppl's willingness to be honest and discuss it) and somewhat terrified by some of the attitudes expressed.
very few ppl know that i am a lesbian, there is simply no reason for them to know, its only a part of who i am, and a pretty private part, at that. unless i've got a crush on you, you'll most likely never hear me mention that i am gay LOL
but this one time, i thought it would be um, interesting, if nothing else, to put a personal "face" (albeit a cyber one) on the issue being discussed at such length in this thread.
i hope i don't regret this
