Yet they get attacked instead. To all of you who chose to take the time to post your negative feelings wouldn't your time be better spent searching for something that you can HELP with?
I have to agree. If the OP is truly as frustrated as he appears in his post, then criticism and personal attacks may likely inspire him to become even more frustrated and angry. And the recipients of this anger will likely be the 2 helpless cats he lives with. I think we as animal lovers need to control our emotions and do and say what will most likely have the most positive impact on the animals in question.

You might not like the OP's tone or style, but to his credit he did seek out this forum and ask for help. For the sake of his cats, I think we should offer him that.

My advice to Wolf: feed the cats before you go to bed at night. Then they won't be hungry at 5 am. And btw, with a new baby, 5am should seem like you're sleeping in

Sounds to me as though they are in more need of getting help with thier cats.

I agree with the automatic feeder....but cats will be cats and he may still wake you up at 5 just for attention. Our cats do this but we love them so much we tolerate it.
If you need to, rehoming may be the best thing for all involved. Especially with a new baby. Its not uncommon for cats to need more attention when new additions come into the home. Sounds like your not too happy with having to do that.

And he would be far more likely to get it if he weren't so offensive.

Let's see....The OP (1) titles his post "Want to Strangle the Cat" and somehow I don't think that was written entirely in jest considering that he repeated it towards the end of his garbage post; (2) calls cats "stupid" three times in the first three paragraphs; (3) claims that cats only do one interesting thing, which BTW I'm sure is way more interesting than anything he's ever done in his apparently miserable existence; (4) calls one cat "noisy, obnoxious and dirty", says this cat fills him with hate, and throws this cat outside; (5) throws shoes at the cats and yells at them; and, last but not least, (6) twice expresses a desire to put a shock collar on the cats (complete with a "Meow! Meow! ZAP!" sidebar that only psychopaths would find amusing).

Nobody can seriously expect anyone on this site to want to help this guy. Furthermore, as others have already noted, there is no reason to think that he even legitimately wants help. OK, he asked for "concrete suggestions" (before making a threat, matter of fact) and said "please help". Big deal. Are we supposed to just ignore the 7 intelligence-insulting paragraphs rife with attitude that preceded these supposedly genuine requests?

You know, I thought I posted a reply saying I thought this might be a troll or spoof message when it first appeared, but either I took the path of discrection and never posted it, or it was deleted. I'm still torn on the subject. It might be legitimate, but since we haven't heard back, we don't know.

If it was real, my heart goes out to everyone involved. He's tolerating something he hates. He's making the cats miserable. He's probably making his wife miserable.

But one thing I noticed is that he accused the cats of a behavior I have never heard of, which made me (possibly unjustifiably) suspicious.

I don't know... if he were a troll, would he have bothered with such a long post? I would expect something more along the lines of "Cats r stupid, ur all stupid crazy cat ppl". :p

It may seem strange that someone would bother typing up a long post and not mean well but the truth is people do it all the time.

I'd be very surprised if this person responds to anything we've said and if he does, his response will likely be full of attitude and sarcasm, just like his first post.

I have been a moderator on other boards before and believe me when I tell you there are people who will indeed spend the time to write a long post to play with people. They will come back to check on the responses and get a laugh out of it.

If he is a troll, he must be disappointed that this didn't turn into a flame war. Instead people gave thoughtful suggestions for his problem and good ideas which probably helped others, instead of taking the bait that was offered.
We love cats, and if their owners are less than what we think they should be, we still give the best advice we can that will help the cat. That's what makes TCS a great community.

Same thing happened to me - I posted a response last week suggesting that he might be a troll, but it got deleted for some reason. Considering he hasn't come back to thank anyone for their advice, or to defend himself against those calling him a troll, it sounds like he probably is a troll.

basically yes. some people have nothing better to do with their time than deliberately try to antagonise others.

and you're not stupid.

Cats.
I thought the OP's post was hilarious! As for my 2 cents, I'd say just get rid of your cats. My cats live in the backyard and come and go as they please, so it's never a problem, but I'd probably feel a little like you if they lived in the house.

I saw the humor in it as well. Anybody that can say that they pets haven't seriously pushed their patience at times either is a saint, hasn't had pets for very long or is just plain lying.

I guess that I'm a terrible, terrible person for telling my critters that I'm going to kill them or beat them to death. Some times I even chase my cats out of the kitchen and make them go upstairs and stay for a while. I even keep a spray bottle around just for squirting the cats. Oh and I have 3 inside cats and only two litter boxes for them. Both of those are upstairs right next to each other.
They are however in a seperate room from the cat fountain.
