How old is the monitor? if its getting on a bit I would ditch it and get yourself ( if money is no problem ) either a new flatscreen, or even an older type crt as they are so cheap nowadays. It sounds to me that it could be the power supply unit in the monitor which is causing that, but then what do I know?
Hope you get back up and running as quickly and as cheaply as possible
actually some good news...I have a new monitor now and i'll work on some photos tonight.
I took it in and they just replaced it for me free....of course I got paid for the 4 year warranty. so..thats always good to have. and now its a 19 inch wide screen lcd.
