I think it is time for our cat George to go have his first date with a groomer, as he seems to need a "butt cut" as I have seen it referred to on here.

I am also noticing the hair on the bottom of his paws is growing really long, and I'm wondering if this needs to be trimmed up by the groomer too? If so, what do I call that procedure so I don't sound like a moron?
Thanks!

Most longhair owners, don't trim the fur on the feet- let it be. For sanitary reasons, you can trim the fur around the base of the tail and butt/back legs.

Its more important to have a daily grooming routine to be combing any knots or tangles from his coat

BTW George (in your picture) doesn't look like a longhair cat - he looks shorthair to me.

Thank you for your tips. I don't really know whether George is officially short/long hair....it seems pretty long to me, but I'm still new to cats so who knows!

Can you post a few pictures (side views, etc) - he really seems shorthair to me. Try to get a rear view picture. If he's more shorthair, you probably don't need to be shaving him anyway
