I started off school as a nursing student and then when I was offered a really good job at the company my mom works for I was dumb and quit school to take the job. Since then, I've needed to get back into school and I was considering going for accounting since that is what I am working in now. I've been horribly procrastinating on getting back into school though and I think the main reason for this is because I know that accounting isn't at all my passion and I won't be happy if I decide to stick with it as my major.

That being said, my true passion is animals and I have officially made the decision to go back to school to be a vet. I know that this is going to mean tons of school and hard work but I am ready for it and for the first time in a long time, I am really excited about what I am going to do with my life. I am trying to figure out now whether I want to get my vet tech degree first so that I can go to work in the field sooner. I'm not sure if we have any vets/vet techs here but I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me on this one.

Oh yeah, and what I really want to do is end up specializing in exotics. I'm thinking maybe avian or rabbit but I haven't really gotten that far yet.

I am 30 with a great job, only to go back to being a student again, its going to be hard… BUT totally worth it. Congrats on your decision! And best wishes to you.

Thanks for the support guys! I know that this is not going to be easy and I am going to have to give up my nice cushy job before too long to really get into it but there is nothing that I want to do more. I've always known that I wanted to work with animals and I'm not really sure why I was stupid enough to not follow that dream in the first place but that's ok because I AM going to do it now. . . no more procrastinating on this one!

good for you! I'm doing the same thing when I'm able to go to college (two more years, woo!
) I'm sure you'll love it - and it's always best to do what you love.

An excellent decision! You'll have the power to do so much good for animals, and for the people who love them. Congratulations!

You go, girl!

You may have a hard road ahead of you, but all your efforts will pay off in the long run. Life kinda sucks when you're stuck at a job that you hate. You'll be much happier if you're doing something you really love!

Best of luck to you!
