OK, Popsie had got tired of that renal diet I had put him on and dumb me took forever to figure out why I had to coax him to eat his food.
Anyway, last Thursday night I put him back on regular cat food and he's eaten about ten cans since then!!! Granted wet food is all he's eating because for some reason he won't eat his dry food anymore. Is it normal for him to eat this much. Do you think maybe his hunger is in overdrive because he half starved on that stupid renal diet. He's just never eaten this much before. He goes in for a blood panel on the 20th and I'll probably tell the vet to check his thyroid.

A thyroid check is a good idea, but it's quite possible he's just hungry. All my cats who spent any length of time as strays tend to be very demanding about food. I'm guessing this is because they were never sure when they might get their next good meal. Popsie might be going through a similar thought process--"I'd better get as much as I can of the good stuff because it might go away."

He may be overcompensating. If he likes wet food it is ok. Maybe the extra water in it makes him feel better.
