I was just wondering if people read the threads I start, or if I should stop starting them all together. I may get one or two replies but nothing much normally. Even when its important, so Im just wondering if there are certain peoples threads that you just skip over, or do you go down the line and read them all?? I know theres a ton of threads out there!

lol you can see by the number of views if people are reading or not.
People are not always going to respond if they have nothing to say or add to a post.

and yes, sometimes, there are posts that i just skip, usually based on the subject.

I try to read every one's threads and posts. I only post if I feel that I have something relevant to add to the thread. I probabably post in less than a quarter of the threads I read, but I try to read them all. I usually only go to a couple of forums though. Health & Nutrition, Cat Lounge and Premier Lounge (all the time), and Behavior, Care & Grooming, What's New Pussy Cat, Crossing the Bridge & IMO (much less often.) I tend to reply in Health & Nutrition about CRF as often as possible.

To be honest I don't really pay attention to who starts a thread. I look at the title and if it seems interesting to me then I pop in and have a look. Sometimes I find an interesting thread, and other times the thread is of no interest to me, and sometimes I find it interesting but feel I don't have anything to contribute.

So just because a thread doesn't get a gazillion comments, doesn't mean it doesn't have a value
Those that feel they have something to comment will contribute. It's not possible to comment in every single thread created by ever single person in every single forum.

Please don't feel slighted if one of your threads gets lots of views and comments, while others get views but few comments.

I read as many of the posts as I can, but I don't reply unless I have something to add... usually by the time I get to a post, excellent advice has already been given and I don't need to add anything more.

Maybe its because I'm a...
Sometimes its hard to know what to say. If someone has succinctly expressed my point of view already, or if someone is asking for help I can't give, I usually won't post.
I have been following the shorky thread, but the only think I can think of to say is 'I can't believe your mother could do that to you! Without even asking! And forcing you to break your kids hearts if you said no!' as I don't know much about dogs, and I wasn't sure that comment would be particularly helpful.

Don't forget that the number of replies you have is just a small proportion of the people who have read and empathised with your posts, but just not known what to say.

I have recently joined a forum with a lot of cat macros so I will share the one that always makes me
. Don't stop starting new threads!

I hope you don't mind me saying it's a bit of a paranoid thread to start!! I never refuse to read or respond to someone's thread because of who they are and I'd never imagine people doing that. Unless the person is particularly antagonizing.

I don't usually notice who starts a thread until after I open it.

I'm usually on from work, so tend to skim through many many threads, but only have time to respond to a few.

Under the cats, mostly.
I try to at least read a majority of threads and I'll post if I have something relevant to say (sometimes I post if I don't!) but I agree that if there are some sad posts, sometimes I don't know what to reply to them. But then again, there are days where I don't show up on the forum at all, so I can miss some posts, because I tend to read those on the first page only.....

I replied to this on though hun!!

I try to take a look at almost every thread, because I've found titles often aren't that informative, no matter how hard the originator may try.

And I don't know of anyone whose posts I would ignore. On some forums, that's a problem, but you can usually put them on your "ignore" list and just never see their posts at all.

I don't notice who posted the thread so much as the title. If it interests me I'll read the thread. If I having nothing better to say or add to what has already been said then I would not post to the thread because I honestly don't have time to monitor threads, read threads and post to as many as I'd like.

I do have to admit that I find some posts pretty silly and attention seeking IMO - and I'm not saying your posts are. I tend to skim and avoid those posts because I don't have the time or the energy to get involved.

There's no way in the world I could hope to read all threads, but I do skim the titles and read when something looks interesting. Something else I do, if time is short, is mouse over the title, which shows the first line or so of the post -- gives an idea whether that intriguing or puzzling title is going to take you anywhere you want to go.

There are few members (probably none) whose threads I never look at.

But, just to reinforce what's already been said, the number of replies is not indicative of how many people have read the thread -- that's in the number of views -- and if I don't feel I have something to contribute, I'm not going to take the time to put words together.

I only skip topics that I dont think I would be interested in, I hoover over the title so I can see what it will be about and if it looks like I wont have any interest in it I skip it. Definitely not based on author.

I can't say that I read all of the threads.....doesn't matter who posts them, I just don't have the time to jump in and read them , I wish I did. Now mind you, probably you don't want me to answer a lot of your threds , bcause I tend to be a "thread-killer" (you know, the one who ends up being the last peson to post to a thread?).

i read a lot more than i post. sometimes i'll even subscribe to a thread i haven't posted in, so i can keep up.
but if i have nothing to say, i don't post in any thread i'm reading.
and some threads' topics simply don't interest me. i don't even read those.
