I listen to all sorts of songs from the 70s to 90s. Nothing lately has really caught my ear. But I've also ventured back to the 30s and 40s big band era which is what my mother listens to.

Mark Knopfler had a new album out a while back, "Sailing to Philadelphi." If you haven't heard it, get it; it's just absolutely great, with lots of guest artists, such as James Taylor.

And if you haven't heard his album "Neck and Neck" with Chet Atkins...well, what can I say?

I grew up listening to 70s and 80s hard rock and metal, so there's not too many songs that I loved when I was younger that I don't regularly listen to now.

Completely avoided 90s grunge and alternative, the stuff was awful. I don't listen to current radio, usually it's a classic rock station.

To add a song to list here's a fun one I've always liked.

I LOVE Run around sue....and The Twist...that will always be a classic. I remember when I was younger shopping with mom & it would come on in a store, she'd stop & start dancing. I was totally
back then.

Oh, gee, this subject almost hurts!

Pure stagecraft:

The group reputed to have the most enjoyable concerts:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpOeC...eature=related

Keith Richards before he took all the drugs in the world:

And how many remember the TV shows "Hootenanny," "Where The Action Is," and "Hullabaloo?"

And what were our cousins in the UK doing through all this?

(Whatever he's taking, I want some!)

my dad [a MAJOR Chey Atkins fan - those were the 1st concerts i ever went to - the great 3 - Chet, Boots Randolph & Floyd Cramer] has every album Chet ever made - including that one. he had me listening to it, & i was reading the notes... at the time, I didn't recognize Mark Knopfler's name. but the notes listed his membership in Dire Straits - a name i DID recognize!
['course Dad - the C&W man - had never heard of them!]

OK, I'll confess a weakness for big band.

But it was before my time.

I have Sirius radio, but they dropped their big band stream of basically a "Standards" stream headlined by Sinatra.

I also love a lot of Glenn Miller music. I have a whole Christmas CD of Glenn Miller music. I especially love "In The Mood", but I also like "Pennsylvania 6-5000", "String of Pearls", "Chattanooga Choo Choo"....all great stuff!!!

Here's another of my favorites...

OMG! "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"!!! You know, when I was little (as in a toddler) my mom always said that was the only song that would make me go to sleep. Even now, I still get a little sleepy hearing that.

Glenn Miller is just timeless. I just wish I knew how to swing dance, because "In The Mood" just makes me want to dance! But, then I stand up and have NO idea what to do.

I guess I was blessed, my older brother was a dance instructor for the Fred Astaire school of dance as well as a competition dancer.
He taught me some as a little girl, then I spent $40 for an 8 week course of Ballroom and Swing dancing at a community college extension program.

Unfortunately, I've never dated a guy who could dance, much less one that was willing to try.

I remember Ace of Base! I listened to it while studying so it always makes me think of math

I listened to mostly R&B in my teen years so I'm thinking of Boyz To Men, SWV, Color Me Badd
Blackstreet, Lauryn Hill

I listen to a very wide range of music, everything from classic rock (thanks Dad!!) Pink Floyd and the Eagles are my favorites

I also really love 70s soul, like the Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Teddy Pendergass

will admit to some 80s too, like the Bangles, the Go-Go's, Wham!

currently I listen to a lot of hip-hop & R&B and yes, I do like some rap, like 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg, Kanye West

my all time favorite song is by Chris Isaak, though, Wicked Game

I absolutely LOVE Meatloaf (especially Paradise By the Dashboard Light!
Has anyone seen the cellphone commercial that he & his son are in??

My all-time fav is definitely Pink Floyd - especially The Wall.

I also like Nazareth, the J. Giels Band, the Beatles, the Sweet, and a few others that aren't coming to mind..
