Goodbye Archie, My Dearest Friend

After months of persistent UTI issues my cat was pts this morning, after yet another blockage. The vet couldn't put the catheter into him as he was completely blocked and has he has suffered many complications I was advised that the kindest thing would be to let him go, so I have and I haven't stopped crying since, my eyes are blurred as I write. He was only 3, it seems so unfair. I didn't expect this when I woke up this morning, it was abit of a shock. Even though he did have reccuring problems, I always thought that we would get through it, but it wasn't to be. Now I have an empty space in my home and in my heart, I miss him so much. Farewell my friend, sleep well.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Rest in peace, Archie. to you. Sometimes as much as we try, there are things beyond us. You did what was right for him and bless you for it.

I am very sorry about Archie - he was so young. What a terrible decision for you to have to put him to sleep, but you were right not to let him suffer. I'm glad he had you to love him.

i am so sorry to hear of your loss, but you gave him every chance, and when it was obvious that he couldnt get better, you gave him that final act of love and kindness we can give them. RIP little one

Thankyou for all your kind words, they do give me some comfort at this very sad time. I have spoken to my usual vet, as it was an emergency vet who advised me to 'let Archie go', and he said he would have told me the same thing, so i guess it was the right thing to do, it doesn't make it any easier though. I just feel robbed at the moment, my darling cat was taken away from me at such a young age, I guess I should just be grateful for the time I had with him. He was such a comical cat, always made me laugh the silly things he did. He especially liked talking to the birds out the window, I think it's really funny when cats do that. I'm really missing his cuddles at the moment, my other 2 cats aren't really lap cats so I do miss that. He would lay next to me on my pillow every morning, purring and digging his claws into my neck(ouch), I'd give anything to wake up and see his little face looking at me. Anyway, I could talk about him forever, just want to say "Sweet Dreams" My Darling Archie, til we meet again.
