Scooters...

Kiwideus posted that her scooter got stolen. (I'm assuming "her," if not, no insult intended!)

And she mentioned she might get a Vespa.

OK, here's a quick little trivia question:

Vespas were well-known in Europe, but not in the U.S. Then, in 1953, one movie changed all that and Vespas became very popular, especially with girls. What was the movie?

hmm dont know the movie.
But i was talking with a dealer i know overseas, about importing some here to the US.
hehe i had the wife's up to 90 mph. but in ohio, would onliy be useful a few months out of the year like a motorcycle

Roman Holiday, was, indeed, the movie. Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck, and a wild Vespa ride.

I think the movie "Boeing, Boeing" helped it along.

And American Graffiti went a long ways toward killing the Vespa in the U.S.

I absolutely love vespas - they are my dream scooter. I don't want a copycat, it has to be the real deal.

I hate to admit that having seen movies like that dates me, to some extent.

this reminds of the time I was driving on the freeway and saw, what I thought at least, was a scooter, until I saw what it said on the guy driving it's shirt- It said "It's not a scooter !"
