Since I have been the recipient so of many gifts of lizards from Butzie, I decided to look up our local (Contra Costa) lizards. Butzie's favorite gift is Sceloporus occidentalis bocourtii , or Coast Range Fence Lizard. This is the lizard:

Luckily, I have been able to release all of them that she has brought in so far.

Then, the other day, she brought in a Batrachoseps attenuatus a CA slender Salamander.

She must have thought that I wanted variety.
I told her that they were too fast for me and to stick to the lizards.

Yeah, and you get to see them up close when you try to catch them.

That salamander slithered like a snake so that is why it was so hard to catch. Yup, Butzie is upgrading to faster prey.

She needs more of a challenge... just be glad it IS salamanders she's bringing and not snakes.

That might not be a challenge enough for Butzie since snakes are known to come into your garage in the summer to keep cool. I mean, where's the thrill in catching something sleeping in your garage.
