I would think it would be possible, especially if it hadn't been implanted just right!

I think when bodies expel foreign objects, there isn't a lot of flesh attached. However, I have had alligators lose AVID chips, but not since we started putting the chips deeper. (This is at work, not at home.)

But, yes, if you have a small glass cylinder with stuff inside that looks a bit like this...

Then, yes, you've found a microchip that came out of somebody. You may not be able to see any detail in the glass cylinder; it may be kinda dark glass that sorta looks half full.

How long ago was he chipped? Animals often times scratch them out before the skin has completely healed up. The likelihood of it happening a long time after being chipped is unknown to me, but I'm sure that it's possible. The best thing to do if you aren't sure is bring him by your vet and ask them to give him a scan.

I'm always afraid that Zek's will come out. His migrated to the skin in his left shoulder, so I can often feel it when I'm petting him. My boyfriend's mom had issues with a certain type of microchip (can't remember which one) migrating out of her dogs, but it could have been due to the way they were implanted.

Yep, It is definetly her microchip! I noticed that she had a scab on her sholder about a week ago and figured she had gotten in a fight with one of the other cats, but the scab fell off and the microchip was attached to it.
I had no idea this could happen!!!

She was chipped two years ago. I did notice however that the chip would move around a lot. I really had no idea they could come out!

Our older staffy Max has his micro chip further down his back, they move with age because they are not anchored according to our vet.
