In my travels, I see a LOT of road kill. I usually drive about 2,000 miles per week, so you can imagine. And a lot of it is pretty rural.

Yesterday, near Falfurias, TX (which is down in south Texas ranch country) I saw what I'm almost positive was a dead panther. They have them down there, but they aren't very common. I'm not positive, but I don't know of anything else that has that long of a tail, all the same width.

Wow you drive more then me in a week and I thought mine was bad. Its 100 miles one way to work (work at home one day), so 800 miles on a 4 day week

I couldn't stop. You don't just stop any place you want to with a vehicle that's 8.5 feet wide, 13.5 feet high, 70 feet long, and weighs as much as 80,000 lbs.

It may have been pretty fresh. That sort of roadkill gets picked up and taken to the taxidermist.

I have seen all sorts of animals killed on the road, and it still bothers me.

I saw a LIVE animal the other day running across the road near my house....it was about as big as a medium sized dog, and I swear to God it was HAIRLESS....it freaked me out. I know I live in Baltimore City and we have some really big rats here, but this creeped me out...it had really long legs and I swear, no hair at all.

Johns Hopkins is right near my house...maybe it was an escaped experiment? (shudder).

Panthers are here, but not common. Bobcats are much more common.

On the way to the new shop yesterday something ran in front of my truck. My "adopted son" said it was a bobcat. I don't know how I missed it, or it missed me.

Could have been a large fox or coyote with bad mange. Mange can make animals look pretty weird when it gets severe.

Sure you do! It's kinds like where does a 2,000 lb. elephant sit? Anywhere it wants!
Ok, not really... but it was a good shot at a bad joke. It really is too bad you couldn't stop for a better look... and perhaps some pictures. I do hope it was something less impresive though.

I have to drive I-80 40 miles one way to work in rural Nebraska and I see all kinds of poor little animals that get hit. I always feel so badly for them.
