is anyone else aware of the robin story? my dear friend cyndy (mum of poppy the shitzu who i posted about here recently) told me that when someone you love has passed away, that you will see a robin soon afterwards. this bird will bring attention to itself so you will notice it.

it apparently is a sign that your loved ones spirit has passed safely.

i have seen robins each and every time i have lost one of my furbabies.

most recently was my parents cat skip. we buried him in our garden as theirs wasn't suitable and their other cat mitten, skip's friend, is here too.

a couple of hours after i had taken my parents home, my daughter and i were standing in the kitchen. i looked out of the window and there, on the little wooden well at the end of the garden, right next to where skip is, was a red robin.

i was telling my dad the next day about this and he began to cry. he told me that him and mum where talking about a shrub to plant on skips grave, and they had decided on one called a red robin. they were completely unaware of the robin story.

i told him that if that wasn't a sign from his beloved pet to let him know that he had done the right thing by him, then what was.

i'm still slightly stunned by it, but i know that our rb babies have many ways of letting us know everything is ok.

thank you skip for making that incredible thing happen.

This is interesting thank you for posting. Right after Tommy died my husband was working in the yard and went down in the tornado cellar for some tools. A juvenile Robin flew into the cellar and Rick had to get him out. The bird got on my husbands shoulder for a split second as he walked up the stairs to let him out. I saw it with my own eyes and couldn't believe it. This little bird hung out for a couple weeks. We called him/her baby birdie! Maybe it was Tommy letting us know he was ok....

Another thing that happened that year was we grew a huge vegetable garden that was a big success. When we planted that garden I dedicated it to Tommy who had died in March of that year. I have never been able to grow a garden like that again. I thought it was a sign from Tommy too.

I think that they send messages. I also believe that people send signs. It seems like a couple days after someone would die, from my Mom's family, the doorbell would ring and there would be no one there. After my Paternal Grandmother died, I distincltly remember smelling her perfume in my bedroom. There was no one else on the 2nd floor, so I know it was her telling me she was OK.

I have never heard the Robin story before, but it is cool and your story brought tears to my eyes. When Smokey passed away she didn't send a robin, she sent something even better. I know she made sure that Levi picked me as his mom. She never liked other cats, but I bet she didn't want me to be lonely.

A lot of people theorize that those signs are literally your mind trying to comfort you, to tell you that they are still around. They are, in a way; there's no way those memories will ever fade, no matter how much time passes. I don't think people stick around on their way to heaven, personally.

that is lovely to hear about the robin. cyndy told me that many times (she has had alot of cats over the years) she has had a robin do just that and hang around for a while. i believe that there is something in that.

and about your garden too, we have now got 5 cats buried at the end of our garden, 3 of ours and 2 of my parents, and my dh has created a barked area over their graves with some plants there. the plants are all thriving and looking beautifully healthy! i like to think that it is a sign from our babies too.

I've never heard about the robin story, only about finding a feather which is when someone gets their wings, but i get lots of robins in my back garden, so every time i see one i'll take it to be the sign to let me know that all the cats and kittens here at TCS are safely scross Rainbow Bridge
