Kyle and I thought that it might be a good idea to try making home-cooked meals for the boys. Anyone got any good recipes for homemade cat food, preferably with low to no sodium? I noticed on Simon's blood report the other day before his surgery that his sodium levels were one point into the high range.

(They probably won't eat it. I wouldn't eat my own cooking, either, for that matter, but we'd like to try.)

If you decide to go this route, make sure you do tons of research. You will need to find a place to buy the additives required, such as taurine. When you say home-cooked I assume you meant "cooked" and not raw diet so you will need to add the supplements to keep your cat healthy. Our forum guru, Sharky, has lots of good information and should be along shortly.

Yes, definitely cooked, not raw. I don't think Simon would eat raw food, even chicken, which is his favorite. I didn't think about taurine and other additives, so that's good to know.

Simon won't eat any canned cat food other than the "grilled" Fancy Feast, and we keep thinking that it's probably not the greatest. He does like a certain number of people foods (e.g. KFC, spicy Thai chicken satÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]e, Krispy Kreme donuts, and meat lasagna--probably all bad for a cat, I know!), so we thought we'd see what happens if we cooked for him. I'm just worried about his sodium levels.
