Hello

We currently have two male cats, Blue who is 13 who we got from the Blue Cross when he was 2 and Harley who is 9 next month who has been with us from birth. A few weeks ago we decided it was time to give a loving home to another puss who has not had a lucky start in life and after 3 or 4 trips to our local RSPCA rehoming centre we today found Stripey. She is a 3 yr old tiny tabby who comes across as being quite confident despite being rescued along with two others from what the RSPCA described as a horrible home.

Blue is a very laid back boy who gets along with everyone so i dont see there being a problem with him, but Harley is different. He is very terratorial and spends alot of his time in paw to paw combat with any other cat who dares even glance in the direction of what he considers his. But on the occasions that we have had strays turn up in our home through the cat flap that we have fed and looked after and interacted with as a family he has been fine with.

How is going to be the best way to introduce Stripey to the boys? We are currently awaiting a home visit before we can bring her home so any tips on how to hide Harleys current wound on the top of his head will also be appreciated

I would be hugely careful with Stripey and Harley - do not leave them alone together at all until you're SURE there won't be a problem and that she still has small places to get into that he can't. Male cats routinely try to dominate females anyhow, and in a house with two males, one of them apparently macho, and a small and new female, don't take a thing for granted for a long time (which is not to say it can't work out in the end, but be very careful).

Thank you, we did have a female stray turn up last year and adopt us but she a very big girl who soon had them both (yes even Harley) dancing to her tune while she ruled the roost, so much so that they pratically moved upstairs until we rehomed her
