Does anyone know how a kitten would get an eye ulcer? I will explain.
I know a woman that has a 7 week old kitten and when he was 2 weeks his eyes didn't open like they were supposed to he had a cold and so they treated him for the cold and cleaned his eyes daily, her hubby is a vet so he made sure to check him daily. Ok he was a little smaller than the rest of the litter she had to tube feed him the first 2 weeks but he is catching up with the others, his eyes do not matt or run anymore and the "ulcers" that were very noticeable are getting smaller, the left eye still has a noticeable white streak on it but she feels it is getting smaller. He acts fine and checks out healthy in every other way.
So what do you think would have caused the ulcer?
And if she gives a 1 yr health Guarantee and even asks that who ever buy him take him to a vet within 2 days she would replace him if the Vet said there was anything wrong. Should she sell him with a guarantee?

If you don't get many answers, you might want to send a PM to LDG. She had a kitten plagued with ulcers and ultimately had to have the eye removed. I believe it was herpes based.

Amy, you're right. It was herpes. Flowerbelle's situation was bad because it was in such advanced stages by the time she was rescued - and there are better treatments for it now.

But if the woman's hubby is a vet - I find it strange that he hasn't tested or treated the kitten for herpes. This is VERY common among cats. And if not treated properly - and even if treated properly - it can take a long time to treat. It can come and go, get better and get worse...

I'd do a quick search in this forum for "herpes AND eye*" and read some of the threads. Many of us have had similar experiences in terms of having to treat our cats 7 to 11 times a day with meds for months.
