I got this EmThere's good news and bad news. The bad news is she has a damaged heart. Possibly from a heart attack.

the good news is that she can live with diuretic meds until her heart gives out. Her heart is causing fluid to build up so she cannot expand her lungs, and that's why she couldn't draw aa breath. I was mistaken before when I thought the vet said the fluid was in her lungs. I viewed the X-rays and saw the fluid he spoke of. Her liver is great and other organs, just her heart. I asked about FIP and he said although that will produce fluid, it won't effect her heart, so that is ruled out. The vet assistant that I spoke with said she is looking around, walking around, alert to what's around her, eating, using the sandbox, etc. She said she would talk to her, pet her, and she could hear her purr. I am grateful the vet and his crew are so personable and empathetic to both me and the pets. She said Minnie Pearl is a fighter and since I have known her for such a long time now, she told me she felt it was NOT the time to put her to sleep. She said if she thought so, she would tell me. He ordered a special heart wet food and a heart med that will be in tomorrow.

Minnie Pearl is home today. she is a lot better than Tuesday when I took her in. Her breathing is stable and unlabored. She is awfully thirsty and the vet said her pills will make her do that. She's resting now and I'm sure she's glad to be home.
