Our 50 pound puppy Lola got a "first" test this afternoon. Our 3 dogs are kept in our sun room while we are at work. The sun room has sliding glass doors from 3 bedrooms and the living room. We have a dog flap on one of those doors and a cat flap on another. When they are locked in the room, I had been closing up both of the flaps. Today I left the cat flap unlocked for the first time so that the cats could enjoy the room while we were gone. Lola has earned our trust with the cats so I decided, why not?

When I got home from work, the hangy down plastic flap was removed and somewhat eaten. The glass pain was pulled out of the track and leaning against the window. And you guessed it, Lola was having a grand time romping around the house.

But here's the warning. She obviously tried to push herself thru the cat flap and when she got stuck, she pulled back, pulling the entire door panel with her. Thank heavens the glass didn't crack or she might have been seriously hurt.

If you have a dog large enough to get thru a cat flap, please fasten it while not under supervision.
