Oy.

We have an air conditioner that was installed back in 1986 in the wall. We need to remove it because it is not energy efficient.

well,

We have taken all the frontal stuff off and can NOT find any way to get the unit out of the chassis. It is STUCK. We've run saws around both the AC and the chassis and there are no screws. There was that spray foam but that's pretty much gone now too.

I can't think of anything to help slide this thing out of the wall.

HELP?

Its disconnected from the electrical power??? Could you smash it up since you are getting rid of it anyway??

Or have someone push from outside and have someone ready to catch/hold it from the inside of the house?? Does it wiggle in the space at all?? Shine a flashlight around the edges to make sure??

Can't smash it because of the coolant in it. It's disconnected from electrical.

We can't have someone push from the outside because it's in a solid casing - I suppose we could cut it out and then push. Doesn't wiggle at all.

Yeah, that's about when I would hire professionals...some things are worth paying for!
That thing probably weighs a ton on top if it.

DH says to try rocking it back and forth. He thinks you have to push it out (to the outside). See if there is a lip on it to stop it from sliding. He also says it might have a screw on the bottom.

Spray some WD40 on it to help.
