i think she had some unresolved anger about being adopted lol
milo did the same. bought the toy (which he got very possessive about too) and then by day 3 he had ripped all the feathers out and we were left with this stick with a small piece of cotton hanging from the end. he then played with that for about 2 months until the stick snapped.

it was bizarre as there were no feathers at all left on it, he just liked to chase the stick. weird cat!

Well I have a video of their behavior with da bird. Should I post the link here or in videos?

Da mouse is more popular than da bird around here. Mosi gets quite upset when I get that out as Jaffa won't let him get a look in until he's finished playing

Please be very careful about leaving da bird unattended. I discovered to my cost just how quickly and easily they can chew threw the string. Mosi ended up having an emergency operation last summer when he swallowed some of it. I would never normally leave that kind of toy out unattended, but normally he would just drag it around the house. On that occasion, we were just taking a breather and he managed to swallow the string in just a few minutes when my back was turned.

Thanks for your concern.

I would never ever ever ever leave anything unattended in my house - I don't know if you know that Luxor eats my clothes. It's a morning day and night ritual to patrol the house for things that could be eaten.

Da Bird is Da DUD in my house.
Popsie could care less about that thing. He's rather chase some ear plugs on a plastic string that I drag around the house.

Hey there all. I'm posting this here and in the video forum for your viewing pleasure.

The video is about 5 minutes long, made up of a bunch of short clips. It starts with stoli and luxor looking out the door, then playing with da bird, then stoli catching it and walking around and growling, then stoli playing with da bird, then stoli catching it and walking around and growling. Then just Luxor playing with da bird, then catching it and chewing it to pieces. I had to lock stoli in a room so Luxor could have a chance playing with da bird.

Oh, and you'll see why I have to always hide stuff from luxor when you see him chewing on this thing. *ps, the 'sneezing' is what I do to Luxor to talk to him.

That was hilarious. I am so going to have to get one of those. Paddington would go INSANE. I am doing an Amazon order from the States in a few days time...hmm...looks like the kittens are going to get a surprise....

I looked all over town for Da bird and found the refills but not the rest! Phlooey! No fun!

That was really entertaining to watch, they really get their claws out to play with that thing!!

How does Da Bird differ from other wand toys with feathers? Does it actually fly differently from the rest?

My kittens love the fish on a wand (They do the same thing as Stoli - pick it up in their mouths and walk around). I was looking at Petsmart yesterday and they have DaBird for $12.99. Refills are like $8.99, and the only refill they have is the DaBird one (not any of the other types). On the other hand, they have a wand toy that comes with 6 different attachments (one that looks quite similar to DaBird) for $9.99.

Is DaBird better than the others?

Yeah, the feathers do move differently. Because they are three feathers, they spin on the axis of the feather portion while flying through the area--the result makes a more realistic, bird-in-motion kind of toy. That is, until one of the cats eats one of the feathers.
