Is Viralys or Enisyl-F more palatable?

Hello!
I was just curious if anyone has tried both these L-Lysine products, and if so which did your cats prefer?
I had been giving Church L-Lysine capsules from the health food store as the vet suggested, I was mixing them with canned food but lately Church won't eat the food if I put the lysine in it... So I have been thinking of trying one of the forms that come in a flavored gel or paste for cats. The problem is I am worried he might not eat it, he's rather picky: he wouldn't eat Nutrical when he was younger and he won't eat most cat treats either. In fact the only "treat" he really likes is these chewable cat vitamins I had.

Ok it seems no one has tried both... Well, has anyone used either brand? Viralys or Enisyl-F? Did you cat like it?

I use the Viralys for my Herpes cat. It smells like fake maple syrup. He doesn't like it but he tolerates it. I smear it on his paw or put it in a syringe. None of my cats like any of the hairball gels either so I didn't expect that he would like the lysine gel. It's a thinner consistency then the hairball gels I have used.

Just noticed the thread. The company that makes Enisyl-F changed their formula about 2 years ago. Before that, my Muddy lived for the stuff. After that, he fought me tooth and nail when I tried to give it to him. My vet told me that most of her clients stopped buying it after the formula change because their cats had the same reaction. So my advice: avoid it.

I buy the powdered L-Lysine thru iherb.com (the brand is NOW). Muddy is Ok with that most of the time. There are folks that have slipped it into water without their cats noticing it.

I was using the Lysine capsule for the longest time and recently switched to the Viralys basically out of laziness since I can get it at work. I have been mixing it in their wet food for 1 week and so far it seems to be going ok. The Enisyl is just too gross, plus it is a thicker paste and does not mix as well with food.

while i have the Viralys on hand, & have used it in the past, Pixel [my herpes girl] really HATES it! i've had far better results w/adding the powdered lysine from capsules to their water for her maintenance dose.
last time she had a flare-up, i added that same powdered lysine to chicken baby food, thinned w/water, & syringed it into her. she didn't like me doing that, but she didn't fight nearly as much as when i tried administering the Viralys.
why can't they make cat meds in chicken or tuna flavors, huh?

Or better yet, mouse flavor!

at the cat hospital where I work they actually for some chronic use meds will compound the meds into a chicken or tuna flavored chewy treat! We are experimenting now with one of Squeeker's meds to see if we can make it into a treat instead of its current fish flavored liquid form, which he does not seem to mind.

I've been using the Enisyl with Carly and she eats it fine. I think you just have to try them to see what your cat prefers. Is there a way to get samples from the vet?

I used to think that Carly liked everything but when I started splitting a fish oil capsule between her and Lucy, Carly turned her nose up at it.
