I posted a week ago about how the annual "Commit to get fit" challenge at my health club had started. Every year I participate. Every year I get to the prize level I want which is the free massage. In past years, this was at the 60 out of 100 points level. This year it is at the 80 out of 100 level, with a free personal trainer at 60 points.

This year, I am exhausted. It is just week 2 of 4. I could barely get up this am and I am in good shape. I exercise for at least 9 hours per week. So what is different this year? It is the fact that 80 points for a massage are 20 more than 60. You pretty much have to work out for 2 hours 5x per week if you want to get that massage.

The rules say that you can swim for 1/2 hour unsupervised for 2 points but you cannot use the swim clinic I am in for 1 hour. (My swim mates and I get around that)

Anyway, to try to get the massage, I seem to be spending an extra hour of workout per day. Sun, I did my usual salsa for an hour, 1/2 with weights (same 2 points for 1 and 1/2 hours), shot some foul shots for a 1/2 hour and played squash for 1/2 hour.

At this rate, I am going to need that massage before the end of the program.

I went to my swim clinic Mon. and the coach said that some of us (not me) had asked her to be gentle because they were tired. Yeah, from commit to get fit! She told us that she would go easy on us and that we could take some more time at the side of the pool and she wouldn't rag on us. We all said thanks and then the coach says, "Okay, 50 fly, 50 back, 50 free 3x. Ones, ready go!"

You know what is the worst part of this? I am spending more time at the club and less time on TCS! Don't worry, I always have time for Butzie. She makes sure of that.

Too bad you are so far away, I am a trained professional massage therapist. I really like working on people that are fit, and work out, it is more challenging. Even though I had to let my license go, I still work on my friends and do a few here and there just to stay in practice. There is no money in it around here, and I couldn't afford the classes to keep my license current.

I really hope that other health clubs give rewards so that we all can get fit.

I am going to make the 80 points, but the way that the points have been assigned to the classes this year makes it harder to do the things that you want to do. I have tried and taken spinning classes but I find them boring (I bet a bunch of you would find swimming boring) and that is 10 points. I also have tried and do not like "mind/body" classes. That isn't me.

Anyway, I am in good shape and this is just the yearly challenge but for a number of other members they are not happy with the change in points.

Oh! One of the extra points that you can get is to give blood. I already gave the club the sweat and the tears, so I might as well throw in the blood.
Seriously, I am O neg and I give blood all the time so if you can, please try to do the same.
