Hennessy doesn't look like that anymore.

To compare, an old pic:

Today:

How much darker do you think he'll get, or will he get lighter now that it's warmer?

He used to have a spot on his left side of that color, and he's just slowly turned the same as his tail.

I had heard that pointed cats get darker on their points, etc, as they mature, but wow!!!! That's amazing!!!

He's... er... A year and a half to two years old, approximately.

And we live in Nebraska, it's just coming off cold. (He's an inside cat, but loves sitting in the windows.)

I grew up in Wyoming with Siamese cats. By the time they were in their teens their dark parts were almost completely black. I don't think they get lighter as it gets warmer, only darker as it gets colder.

I would be interested in finding out more...I have a Ragdoll now, and live in Colorado. He's only 2 and is "medium" colored, in my opinion.

Okay, maybe he's a freak!
He's only been with me seven months - ish. That first pic is from his first week here.

My boy likes to keeps me on my toes, apparently.

That's the way pointed cats mature. The "colder" parts of their anatomy, i.e. legs, tail, face, ears, grow darker as they mature.

His whole back is a point, then? Right at the back of his neck is still fairly pale (the latte color he once was.)

Or do we just have to turn up the heat?

Are you sure someone hasn't snuck in and swapped your cat with another?

The colour change is amazing. But Hennessy is a beautiful cat!

LOL! Usually their backs change over the years, but their tummys will always be lighter. And their bibs. Smudge has dark spots over his hipbones for some reason. And his tail is NOT dark. Which I think is really weird.
