Hey, I think if we can handle a mans hairy crack and stinky farts, then a man should be able to handle menstrual talk.

Far far away!
Hmmmm, I have never even heard of these things before. Sounds kinda weird. I am not sure if I would ever use them or not.

This is one of the benefits of having had a hysterectomy... no more periods!!!

Mine were so heavy that I don't think this would have worked... I won't go into more detail.

I actually knew a few ppl in collage who used the disposible virson of the Diva Cup, she liked them a lot, but did say controllling the mess took a bit of pratice... which she would have given up on if she weren't allergic to the alternitives she said it tooke 4 or 5 cycles to get good and "clean" with

I've asked a few women on another pet site I'm a part of about this product (had to do it through PMs over there since men don't listen to "stay away men!" haha)... so far no one's used it, but one uses those disposable ones... a point she brought up is, just how clean can you get this thing? Like is there possibility of infections of some sort if you don't get it 100% clean? (especially with the public restroom dump and wipe)... I looked at the site for the disposable ones and I don't think I could do those because I never mastered that "way back" insertion that those would require (thank god for the pill and condoms for birth control!) Thoughts?

Haha this is stirring up quite a lot of interest on the other site I'm a part of where I asked... I was advised to not post the actual product/situation in the forums so I invited people to PM... the guys are all interested in the thread, but none have been brave enough to PM just yet hahaha

One woman over there got one last month and said she loves it, but she hasn't yet responded to some of the questions that were brought up here that I asked her... shall forward her advise over here when I get some

Just seems awfully.....ew....to me.

Unsanitary....I just can't figure out who you'd get that thing thoroughly clean?

That's one of the questions I posed to the woman who told me she has one... she probably wont respond until tomorrow at this point - if she's got anything good, I'll post it

Germs do get in there. Do you all thoroughly sanitise your partner before you do the deed? Not to get too gross, but the Diva Cup doesn't go in as far, and while you're shedding the lining, it would probably expel germs as well I guess?

I'm guessing that if you use hot, soapy water, and use some sort of antibacterial thing every now and again as well. You can buy "DivaWash" as well which is some sort of wash they also sell for cleaning the cup. Apparently you can also use it for your face and body
Does anyone feel icky at thought of using the same product for your face as you do for your menstrual cup?

Reminds me of a Jay Mohr skit (I think it was him)... he talks about how he was always the last in the shower in his house full of siblings and he'd be washing his face with the soap and suddenly realize "my sister just washed her butt with this!"

Sorry I know that's gross haha

I agree about the "sterilizing" your partner thing too haha, they aren't the cleanest things in the world lol... plus (I'm saying this hoping no one goes on a tangent with it, but it fits this current idea of cleaning), people clean and reuse silicone sex toys, I don't see how this is different...

From the Diva Cup website

It holds one full ounce (30 ml). Since the entire cycle is an average of 30-40 ml*, most women find that the cup is not even half full after 12 hours.
I have a feeling having to empty it in public shouldnt be a problem.

It's weird, I was just thinking about these things, or the disposable kind, my last cycle.

My period only last 4 days, but because of this it is very heavy... (and I hate saying that since I knw the nosey guys are reading this anyway!
) I normally have to wear a tampon and pad; and how I hate that!

I think I might be a taker...

I was going to mention that as well, but decided not to - I'm glad you did

I'm thinking it should generally be fine as well given it does hold a fair bit. I'd probably plan ahead and if it's a heavy day where I had to be out for a long time, I'd be emptying it before I left, and try to wait until I got home before I emptied it again - and wear a pad or something as well just in case!

I hadn't had a period in years because of my Depo injections, and just as they were starting again after I stopped the Depo I got pregnant, so have only just started getting regular periods again, and this whole period thing (combined with the cramps, hormones blah blah blah) is kinda annoying!

Funny you should bring this up Sarah - I am looking into buying one for myself.

I know someone who uses it. She loves it. When she needs to clean it out, she goes into a disabled toilet since they already have a sink there in the toilet.

It does take practice with inserting it but once you get the hang of it, you won't leak.

I hope this helps - I asked my friend all these questions and she didn't mind answering. If you have more questions, feel free.

I'm amazed at how busy this thread has been, I thought maybe one or two people would reply. I guess it's something that every female has to deal with...
