Aside from that, there are fewer than 10 cases per year. In the early 80s there were nearly 900 a year.

Another thought is, what if this thing is full and you are at the mall or in a restaurant and need to wash it out? What are you going to do...? Take it to a public restroom and give it a good rinse?

I don't think I will ever be buying this and will stick to tampons.
It suggests on the site if it needs to be emptied in a public restroom to do so (I guess dump contents into toilet) and wipe out with clean toilet paper, then wash appropriately at the next private opportunity... sounds like it might get messy... I so hope to talk to someone that's used one haha so all this kinda stuff could get cleared up

Definitely don't try that it wouldn't be very comfortable!

maybe im missing something but TSS can kill if ignored!
i wouldnt risk it!
As as been said - TSS is caused more by tampons than anything else. Here's what the website says:

Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is considered a serious and sometimes fatal disease caused by toxin-producing strains of the Staphylococcus aureus bacterium. TSS has been linked to high absorbency and prolonged use of tampons. There are now regulations in labelling for tampon absorbency to decrease the risk of TSS.

Symptoms of TSS often mimic the flu and can include sudden high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, fainting, or a rash that looks like a sunburn during your period or a few days after.

Remember that the vagina is continually self-cleansing washing away dead cells and bacteria. The DivaCupâ„¢ is non-absorbent and is only a receptacle and does not disturb the natural moisture level in the vagina. An increased risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is not associated with the use of menstrual cups.

You just tip it out, and wipe it with toilet paper, then clean it properly whenever you next get home.

I've heard about it, but i'd be worried i haven't put it in properly. I used to try using tampons but i don't like trying to insert them and i have to wear pads anyway in case of leakage. So now i just use pads (i know it may sound gross) but i change them regularly and wash alot. I think for me it's a comfort thing, and if i'm not sure that it's doing it's job or i've done it the wrong way, then i'd rather something i'm more sure of.

It's like reading about the diaphragm, not only do you have to put it in put squirt a cream in as well. I like life to be simple!

I just saw your post about us not having any applicator tampons. That's the reason ( i didn't want to go into detail lol) i don't use them anymore. I think perhaps i'll go have a hunt around and see if i can find any. I do remember they were around in high school.

It's silly - I remember applicator tampons were the things that you got given in sex ed class when they talked about that sort of thing as well because it was the only way they could get rid of them!

Hrm we didn't get that. We had to roll condoms onto bananas!

I would've preferred the tampons seeing as i didn't do the deed till i was in my 20s! lol

We know, but at least this way you are warned and can't say you weren't! If you puke everywhere, it's your own fault!

if this were still an issue for me, i wouldn't want one. i used tampons back when there was a need for such a product.
i think the emptying/cleaning part would be really disgusting.
