Haha, I'm loving this thread!

I agree about the pad thing... I think I used them for my very first period and then was like alright I'm learning to use tampons ASAP!
It just feels like you're walking around with a whole roll of soggy toilet paper between your legs haha

The more I read this thread and talk to women on the other site where I brought this up, the more I think I might try this... My PM box over on that site is overflowing haha

Here is the response the woman over there who uses one gave me:
"I honestly think it is great! I tried Instead last year and I hated it. I never could get it out and it did not work for me. I was leary of the Diva cup because of it, but after reading around I wanted to give it a try because of envrinmental reasons plus I heard that it can make your period lighter and shorter because it does not contain the chemicals that pads and tampons contain. It really worked for me!

I will say there is a bit of a learning curve with getting it in and out. i could get it in ok, but I had to learn to get it in a special way so it wouldn;t leak. And when I finally figured out how to get it in properly it was awesome! I never had to go to a public bathroom because you can leave it in for 12 hours. I am a bit older at 34 and I have had 3 kids. My periods are horrible and very heavy and even on my 2 worst days I only had to change it every 8 hours. WOO HOO!

Here are some links that may be helpful. The 7 fold worked very well for me.

Good luck!"

I saw on the product site when I entered my zip code that they are sold at whole foods - I don't know if they're sold at all of them, but at least the ones near me... so I *think* next time I'm out that way I may go for one - I am a little worried about inserting it correctly though... I may try it out when I'm not on my period just to get comfortable with it (plus my body's so finickey that if I happen to miss my pill one day, I get a little spotting, so if that happens it could be like a test run)... I figure it can't hurt since there are no chemicals that would be harmful... if/when I get one I'll be sure to post about it and of course I'm still stalking this thread!

I'm allergic to silicone, so that option is out for me.
That and well, it just sounds nasty.

I have herd of these but never tried them. I do frequent a vegetarian message board however and they are quite popular among the veggie crowd. Maybe if you post here www.veggieboards.com you will find the answers to your questions!!! Good luck!!! PS. when you find out let me know because I was thinking about buying the same ting. They are supposed to be comfy and suction if placed right to eliminate leakage.

Haha, I told my friend, Jen, about the Diva Cup today and she was all "eww that's so weeeeeeird" haha I told her I thought the same thing at first!
She found it hilarious though that I started that convo by sayiing "oh hey! there's happy news in the land of my lady parts" haha we're just good friends like that

My Aunt Flo isn't currently visiting, lol, but I've put mine in to "practice" without the possibility of a huge mess and to get used to it and so far so good! And I don't feel it when it's in.... I'm thinking I'm gonna fall in love with it in another 2 weeks or so lol

Man, I just don't know about this - I'll see what you all think after you've given it some time.

I trimmed the tail off of mine - that helped with comfort and I don't use it to take it out. DO NOT try and remove it without breaking the 'seal' with the cervix...much pain will ensue. Fold it slightly while removing, too.

I use my thumb to push in on the side to break the seal, then carefully holding it upright (relative to the ground) carefully take it out. I spilled my first time, but if you remember to keep it upright it goes OK.

What else...oh, it opens up much easier if it is dry inside so after I rinse it I use TP to dry the inside of the cup before folding and inserting.

To make sure it is sealed after inserting it, grab hold of the bottom or sides of the cup above the tail and spin it around. This will also ensure it is fully open.

I used the Origami fold as mentioned here - http://community.livejournal.com/men...92.html#cutid2

It was easier than I expected, no leakage, and it's been about 5 hours now.
remember me?
You said this in a previous post

"Well you'll be the first to get a detailed account of how it goes"

Hope it goes well for you
