After a ten year drought with no cats, I now have two shelter rescues.

"Spot" the Calico and "Gulliver" the goofball!

Spot is the existing cat with Gulliver being the new cat as of Sunday.

They are not left alone unsupervised yet,

Gulliver must be wherever I am and gives random kisses and love bites.
Spot just wants him to disappear!

He also likes to wake me up at 2 am to play!

Here he tries again to make friends with Spot.

Here Gulliver shows that dogs are not to be feared!

Gulliver is the first cat I've had that is affected by catnip!

Welcome to TCS! Spot and Gulliver are both gorgeous - and are thse some tabby stripes I spy on Spot?

A quick idea - dab some vnilla on each of them, a bit on the base of their tails and their chin/necks. This'll help them smell morelike each other and hopefully Spot'll warm up to Gulliver sooner.

That last picture is prices, by the way! Gulliver looks like an utter loon!

They're beautiful, and it looks like they'll be friends soon... Spot is showing interest and Gulliver looks too laid back to care either way. Welcome and good luck being peace maker!

Welcome!
Gulliver looks like the type of cat everyone wants - full of personality! Spot and Gulliver will adjust to each other, but you're right - maybe not a great idea to leave them alone together at this point

They are both beautifull!!

Welcome!!!! Thank you for adopting two shelter cats! AND older cats at that!
Older cats have a very hard time finding homes because few people want a "used" cat. Thanks again!

See you in the forums!

Thanks, all!

Yes, they are older cats as far as adoption goes.
Spot is 2 and Gulliver is 2 1/2.
Being a single dad makes it unfair to have kittens at home. Adult cats are far more likely to be OK with me being at work daily.

Gulliver is still more "kitten" than I expected!

Hi and welcome to TCS. We adopted a 3-year old cat from the humane society 3 years ago. She is a giant cuddle-bug. Very laid back girl.

Anyway looking forward to seeing you around the boards! ~ Marian

Spot found a temporary home at Cactus Cats rescue.
She arrived pregnant and then foster nursed for a bit until I saw her in the window at an adoption event.
My first thought was "wow! what an amazing looking cat!"
After thinking it over for two days, I went back and she was still there.
She decided she owned me from the instant I got her home!

Gulliver was an accident.
I played driver for my sister when she wanted to go to the Humane Society to see a rat.
Her oldest son and my son went too.
Of all the cats and other animals there, Gulliver was the biggest clown!
He was rubbing and rolling against the glass!
He pretended he was being pet when they touched the glass.

The volunteer working cats that day asked if we needed help.
I told her we wanted to see everything else first, but would be back to see Gulliver again.
She acted as is she didn't expect to see us again.

We checked out all the dogs including a gorgeous dalmatian! I don't want a dog because they really don't like being home alone that much.

The volunteer seemed suprised that we actually came back to meet Gulliver in an orientation room.

He had to check us all out and sold himself like a star!
I knew then that he was never going back to that windowed cell again!
The girl seem truly shocked and overjoyed when I asked to get the papers started!

Really? AWESOME! she said and had us wait.
20 minutes later we were heading home.
No rat: one cat.
I didn't mean to get a cat that Sunday, yet I had put the carrier in the trunk before we set out that day
