We got 2 warnings our trash is too heavy. :/ I think it's the cat litter. We have 3 large boxes.

Any suggestions? One more warning and they will stop taking our trash

This is the 2nd odd trash pick up thing I've heard today.
I didnt' know trash could be too heavey lol.
We take a big trashbag out to the bin every 1-2 days, and that includes the SCOOPED kitty litter.
If you use non scoopable every day, I could see how that would make it heaver yes.

Well I use double bags and try not to pour it in all at once when it is time to empty it, so it distributes it better. I also don't tell them it's cat litter either...
I have heard some trashmen will not pick up a can if they know there is litter inside.

Movin' on up!
Our city uses those humongous rollout barrels. I scoop into a plastic grocery bag, tie it shut and toss it in the barrel. Once a week, I dump both boxes, into the barrel. No problems, here.

You might need to change to flushable litter.

Hi Rachel!

Would you consider trying theworld'sbestlitter?

It is flushable and septic-safe. It is made of whole corn kernel, so it is pretty safe for the kitties.

It is a pleasure even just to scoop off the litter, as it is soft and does not have any unpleasant odor.

Here is thir website:

http://www.worldsbestcatlitter.com/

My kitty paws stay smooth and clean. By the way, i am by no way associated with this company, i just like this product ALOT! Smiles!

Good luck and cheers!

I normally use shopping bags when i scoop and double bag. When i do the whole litter change I dump it out in the back yard behind the chicken coop.

Ditto! My cats like scoops/clay than regluar clay non scoop or natural like whole corn kernel or whatever that i ve tried but they hate it. I prefered natural stuffs to be flushable and safe for them but i have no choice!

Wow - I never knew they can limit the amount of trash people throw away! Is the limit set by the number of people per household or what?
We just throw it away - never even thought there could be a problem there.

BTW - moving this thread to the Cat Care forum.
