What kind of behavior is this?

Our cat, Neely, recently started doing something weird with her back leg. She goes up to a wall, lifts one of her back legs and kicks the wall while shaking her tail at the same time. (She is spayed and is not spraying.) I have never seen any of our cats do this before. Nothing has changed in the house and we have had her almost 3 yrs. Any ideas?

Nerves maybe? The good ones I mean. Like if you are so happy, you get the shakes?

My boy Ashley does what you described. Before neutering he was Mister Sprayer. He was really something. Now, whenever he is happy he still shakes his tail, lifts his leg. Thankfully, nothing comes out. So it's more like a habit with Ashley.

Thanks for the input. I wasn't sure what to make of it but if you think it means she's happy then I'll go with it.

are you sure she isn't spraying?

She could be "pretending" to spray--it may be a territorial gesture?
