my older cat, patchy, SNORES. LOUD. theres times i can hear her in other rooms! i worry because sometimes i think it sets off her asthma. none of the vets seem to worry about either her snoring or the asthma -- im worried shes going to start having an asthma attack one day and not wake up. (where i live its nothing but country vets.) it almost sounds like sleep apnea!
she sleeps curled up in a ball with her head at a weird angle and i usually move it so she can breathe.

does anyone elses kitty have this problem?

My first cat Whiskey used to snore crazy loud. It was the family joke that such a little guy could snore so loud. I could be downstairs and hear him snoring upstairs. We never took him to the vet, he was never sick, lived to be 20'ish and died of old age.

He did not have asthma though, but BOY could that cat snore!

Just spotted this thread. I have a cat who snores. Vet said it was cos he has a soft palate...no treatment, just the way he is. Perhaps it's worth suggesting to the vet to make sure you're not overlooking any breathing problems?

LMAO at this thread!

Simon snores sometimes, but I'll take his snoring any day over Kyle's...who is slowing driving me insane at night!

Simon's snoring isn't very loud though, just little kitty snores. Heh, I'm gonna be thinking about this all day now.

nah she had a REALLY good vet before we moved in norman - so good that im tempted to drive 3 hours back just to get their boosters lol

i think she just snores from the weird positions she sleeps in. i dont know if you remember popples toys from the 80s but thats what she looks like

Norman has a cat only clinic - called Cats Only in fact, have you considered going there? There's also several animal hospitals.

Is Patchy a little over weight? That can cause snoring.

no shes avg weight, sometimes underweight due to her diva-like pickyness lol. i took her to westwood vet clinic over by brookhaven kinda past the mall. they were GREAT with her there. i think her vet's (dr. biles) son is a vet and has a clinic in norman also.

Peaches snores like a drunken sailor! She is so loud I have to turn up the TV! It's funnier then h - e - double toothpicks!
She is not over weight either at 9.2 lb and the Vet says she is healthy as a horse. I always attributed hers to the fact that she is a Persian. Although she is the only Persian I've had that snored.

I just found this thread.  I was worried about Emmett's snoring.  When he was younger he didn't snore, now he'll wake me up with it.  Even if he is just sitting around he has this purr/snore thing he does.  He also purrs a lot more then he used to.  Is that strange?
