Aww, how sweet! Have you had baby mice before? Excuse me, you probably already know this but if you don't, don't pick up the babies while they're tiny otherwise the mother may eat them! :~s

Can't wait to see the photos

You'd better check, cause I don't think you are supposed to be leaving the father mouse in the same cage. Mom will kill the babies if dad doesn't! Only ones I know of that its safe for parents to stay in the same cage with babies are gerbils.

i have read contradicting things i wasnt keen on the idea, but ive taken dad out and the mum seems too leave the babies which is odd... she and all the others are taking care and ive checked on them 3 or 4 times the mum isnt fussed in the slightest.. on one of the forums im on they say that the male will only eat them if theyre not his own.... how can he tell tho!
:/
i am listening for any signs of trouble im even keeping the cage next too the bed hehe

I'm so jealous. I tried to mate my 2 y/o long coat male mouse to a 9 m/o long coat rex. They mated several times on 3 occasions. Nothing happened. Spikey, my male is the last in the line of mice I've been breeding. My 1st mouse was his grandfather.
I have heard that male mice make good fathers & the only reason to take him out, which I used to do after mating, is because he'll mate with the mum soon after she's given birth. I used to handle the babies every day from day 4. The last litter I had, their mum died when they were 12 days old & I hand raised them. Luckily their were only 3 of them. To keep them warm I put them in with one of their aunties & she suckled them.
I'm so sad that Spikey is the last of my line. He & Smudge, my 1st mouse his grandfather were/are real little characters.
Spikey when he was one month old.
