Most people think that if they are feeding their pet Science Diet, Iams, Nutro, Eukanuba, Pedigree, Purina, Whiskas,9-Lives, Kibbles n Bits, Beneficial, or Pro Plan just to name a few, that you are feeding your pet a healthy meal. YOU like many are not aware of what is really in the food and rely on the brands to deliver what they claim most of the above food advertise and package their foods to look appetizing and nutritious. Most of them also use rendered meats (road kill, including cats and dogs. euthanized pets from vet, and mammal parts) in their foods. The following list is actual ingredients found in the above mentioned brands.

Chicken by-products meal consists of the ground rendered parts of the carcass of slaughtered chickens such as necks feet undeveloped eggs intestines feathers and blood.

BHT/BHA-A synthetic preservative: known to cause liver and kidney dysfunction, also a cancer causing agent.

Ethoxyquin:Identified as a hazardous chemical by OSHA. Used originally as a pesticide known to cause cancer in animals. Used as a preservative in pet foods, but not allowed to be used in food for human consumption.

Animal fat (preserved with BHA/BHT): obtained from the tissue of mammals and/or poultry in commercial processes of rendering or extracting. Its used to make food palatable.

Soybean meal: Contains large quantities of natural toxins or "anti-nutrients". First among them are potent enzyme inhibiters that block the action of trypsin, and other enzymes needed for protein digestions. They can produce serious gastric distress, reduced protein, digestion and ehronie deficiencies in amino acid uptake. In test animal diets high in trypsin inhibitors cause enlargement and pathological conditions of the pancreas including cancer.

Fish Meal: It may include but is not limited to fish heads, fins, tails, and bones. Fish can have a high level of mercury and other toxins.

Meat Byproducts: This is not necessarily actual meat. It can come from any mammal source. It may even include road kill, which may include dogâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s, cats and euthanized pets.

Sucrose-sugar additives: US cat food manufacturers rely on sweeteners to help "addict" cats to dry food. Added sugar can effect the absorption of other nutrients. Artificial sweeteners may be linked to aggression and hyper activity. Foods high in sugar which a cat does not require can be linked to the increasing amount of diabetes in cats recently. True healthy and nutritious foods will have human grade protein source in the first few ingredients you read on the label. The food companies named above do not use human grade protein sources and will have only one byproduct protein source and then you will see ingredients that have corn, rice, wheat or soy listed which have little or no protein. It really isnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t any wonder that our companion animals suffer from arthritis, hip dysplasia, eye problems, ear problems, fleas and parasites, gum disease, thyroid imbalances, skin a and coat problems, personality disorders, birth defects, breeding problems, cancer and other major and minor illnesses. Life span of many breeds now live less than half what they once did two or three decades ago. Some of the food companies mentioned above have even gone to lengths such as cash kickbacks to vets, spend millions of dollars on advertising and misleading packaging instead of the wholesome ingredients they claim to deliver. The pet food industry is ungoverned and gets away with putting whatever they want in the food and are making billions a year from doing it.

If you want to feed your pet healthier there are actual pet food companies with a conscience and who care about your pets health. These companies use human grade protein, no rendered road kill, no fillers or preservatives and make their food in FDA regulated food plants.

Benefits to feeding your animals a healthy food:

-Your pet will eat less of the healthier food due to the absence of fillers and in turn have less waste.

-You are more likely to have lower vet bills in your future.

-Pets that are fed healthy food feel better and have fewer behavior issues, are more social and best of all your pet is likely to live a longer life.

-Healthy food contains vitamins and minerals such as OMEGA-3, OMEGA-6, LECITHIN, LANOLEIC ACID, FLAXSEED, VITAMIN E, BIOTIN, and/or KELP for healthy skin and coat,

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES: contain vitamins and antioxidants that help maintain the immune system.

CHELATED VITAMINS: Chelated vitamins are better for absorption of the vitamin.

GLUCOSAMINE AND CHONDROITIN SULFATE: for healthy joints.

TAURINE: an essential amino acid needed for normal eye and heart function.

CRANBERRIES AND BLUEBERRIES: are excellent for prevention of urinary tract infection and struvite crystals.
